The farm, La Braccesca, of which the first acquisition on the part of Antinori dates back to 1990, is situated a few kilometres away from Montepulciano, on the southern-east quadrant of Tuscany on the border with Umbria. It has a total surface area of 380 hectares, divided into two parts: the main one having 282 hectares, of which 175 hectares are presently vineyards, is situated between the municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona. The second has 98 hectares, 63 of which are vineyards and which is found, instead, among three of the most remote sub-zones for the production of the grand red wines of Montepulciano: Cervognano, Gracciano and Santa Pia.

The Vineyards
As a whole, the surface area of vineyards belonging to the farm La Braccesca is 238 hectares, intended to become 300 in the coming years. Since the beginning of the 90s, the company has started planting new vineyards, the essential foundation for the production of great wines. Classical varietals have been bedded out such as Prugnolo Gentile (local variety of Sangiovese) and Canaiolo Nero, but also non-autochthonous varieties like Syrah and Merlot, which have found the ideal ground on the hills at the foot of Cortona. The 175 hectares of vineyards between Montepulciano and Cortona are approximately 280-300 m.a.s.l. Here the ground is of medium mixture with a good endowment of clay and silt; instead, in the parts of land closer to Cortona it’s pebblier. The vineyards of Cervognano, Gracciano and Santa Pia have soil, which, as a basis, is fundamentally clayey (red clay) and rich in skeleton.

ARCHENO VISITE:
Per festeggiare il suo 20° anniversario, la Tenuta La Braccesca, insieme al MAEC – Museo dell’Accademia Etrusca e della Città di Cortona – presenta il progetto delle “Archeno visite”. La Braccesca apre al pubblico, in occasione dell’esposizione straordinaria di alcuni importanti pezzi etruschi provenienti dal museo del Louvre ed esposti al MAEC. Gli Etruschi dall'Arno al Tevere.
Un percorso formativo ed emozionale, una visita guidata alla scoperta delle tradizioni e del territorio, che parte dall’osservazione dei reperti esposti al MAEC, coinvolgendo i partecipanti a comprendere soprattutto il rituale del banchetto etrusco. Al termine della visita una navetta porterà i partecipanti a La Braccesca, dove un percorso di degustazione dei vini prodotti nella Tenuta e la visita della cantina , guiderà il visitatore nella storia del rituale del consumo del vino dall’antichità ad oggi, anche grazie all'allestimento realizzato per rendere noto il valore della viticoltura e dell'agricoltura nella civiltà etrusca.
