THE COMPANIES

The first documents relating to the farm, Fabbri, date back to 1824.  In over a century of history, many things have changed and the estate has advanced by adapting itself to new technologies without overlooking the objective of obtaining productions of quality, as demonstrated by the certificate of honour at the Esposizione Fiera Campionaria Internazionale held in Rome for the wine production of 1926.  With the increase in knowledge in all sectors it became necessary to be specialised in order to have a more profound knowledge in the field and to therefore obtain the best results.  The Fabbri estate also adapted itself with this exigency specialising in vine and olive cultivation. Moreover, in the past, our company was particularly oriented in the production of oil.  At present, the Fabbri estate has a surface area of 16 hectares of vineyards and an expanse of olive groves covering 10 hectares.

The Vineyards
The climatic characteristics of the valley, moderately ventilated during the summer afternoons and the characteristics of the land, which is a combination of sand and silt and rich in skeleton, make the area particularly apt for viticulture.  After a study of the varieties suitable for these attributes, the planting of Trebbiano, Sangiovese, always in existence in these areas, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and more recently, Syrah, was opted for.  Starting from 1999, new vines have been planted.  A plant density of 4,500 plants per hectare was realised (plantation of 2.70m x 0.80m) which was then increased to 5,290 plants per hectare (plantation of 2.10m x 0.90m).
