THE CONSORTIUM

Initiated in the spring of 2000, the Consortium carries out the function of controlling and protecting the wines of D.O.C. Cortona and diffuses this knowledge by way of efficacious cultural, informative and promotional activities.  It protects the image and prestige of its name with continuous quality controls and undertakes initiatives of a cultural nature inclined to make Cortona, its territory, and wines known throughout the world.
 
At present, there are 22 co-associated companies, which nearly represent the total amount of producers.  Among them are a number of brands born and deeply-rooted in the region, others are of a more recent tradition and others still of international importance. The fact that these latter ones have given much credit to the territory of Cortona, enough to make it the centre of substantial investments, is flattering. 
The environmental conditions, natural predisposition of the places and the land, tradition and culture of wine have inclined the spreading of high quality viticulture and the production of wines of great value.

The Consortium has the duty of interpreting, transmitting and guaranteeing this quality.
