Art. Labelling, designation and presentation
7.1 - Qualifications
In the labelling designation and presentation of wines, as mentioned in Art.1 above, it is forbidden to add any qualification which is different to that listed in the present Regulations, including adjectives such as, ‘distinguished’, ‘chosen’, ‘selected’, and similar. It is, however, permitted to use the indications that refer to names, company names, personal trademarks, not having glorifying significance and not suitable in drawing deception to the consumers.
7.2 – Facultative Information
Facultative information is allowed, according to the Commission’s regulations, other than the traditional information such as, processing methods and others, provided that they are relevant to the wines as mentioned in Art.1 above.
7.3 - Locality
The reference to geographical indications and toponyms on an administrative level, or fractions, areas, localities from where the grapes originate, is allowed in conformity with the provision of the Ministerial decree dated 22nd April 1992.
7.4 - Characters and Position on Labels
Facultative information, excluding trademarks and company names, may be placed on labels only in typographical letters not larger or more evidenced than those used for wines from the controlled place of origin, with the exception of more restrictive general regulations.
7.5 - Year
It is obligatory to place the year of production of the grapes on labels of Cortona wines.
7.6 - Vineyard
The mention of the ‘vineyard’ followed by the relative toponym is allowed under the conditions listed in the law for all typologies of wines as indicated in Art.1 above.
